Entries are now open for the 2019 Maari Ma Indigenous Art Awards for artists residing in the Far West region of NSW.
Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery and West Darling Arts invite Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists residing in the Far West region of NSW (Broken Hill City Council, Central Darling Shire Council, Wentworth Shire Council and the Unincorporated Area) to submit entries. Prizes will be awarded in four categories.
The aim of the prize is to provide an opportunity to showcase and celebrate artworks and creativity in the Far West by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.

CATEGORY A – OPEN AWARD:
Open Art Prize – 2 & 3 dimensional works in any medium on any theme. Includes painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, film, installation etc.
1st Prize – $3000
2nd Prize – $1000
CATEGORY B – YOUNG ARTIST AWARD:
Young Artists (artists up to 18).
1st Prize – Art pack to the value of $500
The Encouragement Award aims to support upcoming and emerging talent working in any medium. All works entered to the prize are eligible for this award.
1st Prize – $1000
Entries close & artworks to gallery: Tuesday 19th February 2019
Exhibition dates: Friday 1st March 2019 – Sunday 5th May 2019
