Second Opening for Artist Residency with Start VR

Start VR is about to press go on the second opportunity in their Australian VR Artist Residency Program. The Residency is supported by Screen Australia through their Enterprise Ideas program and launched earlier this year with the creator of Sci Fi hit Cleverman, Ryan Griffen joining the dynamic company for the first wave of the residencies.
Over the last few months Ryan and the Start VR creative team have been working on some fresh new VR concepts and soon another creative mind will get to immerse their artistic ideas into the burgeoning visual tech space.
Start VR CCO Martin Taylor says “We’ve been thrilled with the project Ryan’s residency has delivered, it’s been amazing to watch the collaboration of art, traditional storytelling and immersive technology come together. We can’t wait to see what new and exciting creative ideas come through this second residency and hope this process will connect us with an artist keen to express their artist vision into this new creative medium. I encourage creatives across the country to apply.”
For Start VR, the aim of their residency program is to imagine new content in partnership with a creative from a more traditional genre, whether that be visual arts, dance, screen content or beyond. The residency is seeking to find a hidden gem from those who want to take their art form and work it into the VR platform and ultimately create something that is both amazing and marketable.
The residency is open to creatives, aged 18 years and over, who are Australian residents and have had a least two published, publically performed or recognised credits for their work. All information about the residency, including program inclusions for the successful candidate, is available on our website at
Expressions of interest open 5th September 2018 and close at midnight 10th October 2018 (AEDT).
