Artist Update | Mez Breeze Partners with Microsoft, Samsung

In September 2017, Regional Arts NSW profiled Goulburn artist Mez Breeze, following her win of Best Experimental Game at the inaugural Game Design Awards in Dundee, Scotland.

Since then, Breeze has continued to prove that living in the regions is no barrier to an international career, through a partnership with Microsoft, Samsung and MasterpieceVR for a VR Influencers Sustainability Initiative. The initiative saw Breeze design models of a more sustainable future, using Samsung HMD Odyssey on a Windows Mixed Reality Headset.

In addition, Breeze’s virtual reality sculpture This Golden Stance has been exhibited at the Museum of Other Realities, and in May released a virtual reality literature project called A Place Called Ormalcy.

This month Breeze is also featured as a case study within Anarchists in the Academy: Machines and Free Readers in Experimental Poetry, and an early access version of Perpetual Nomads has gone on sale. Perpetual Nomads is a virtual reality adventure funded by Screen Australia and the Canada Media Fund, and Breeze featured as Co-Producer, Creative Director, Lead Writer and Narrative Designer/Developer.

You’ll also be able to catch Breeze’s VR poem Our Cupidity Coda at the 2018 Electronic Literature Organization’s Conference in Montreal this August. We’re looking forward to watching Mez Breeze’s interdisciplinary career continue to climb and reach new international heights.
