The Role
The Regional Gallery Curator is responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of the Glasshouse Regional Gallery, including management of Council’s collection of art works, presentation of an annual program of exhibitions and events, to promote community participation in artistic and cultural practices, foster audience development and enhance visitation.
 
As a member of the Glasshouse senior team, the Regional Gallery Curator provides leadership and creative vision to plan and present a program of exhibitions and events.
 
The Glasshouse is the pre-eminent performance, arts and meeting facility in the region and is a fast paced, modern and dynamic environment. The multi- functional venue comprises a 588-seat theatre, 100-seat studio, an international-standard regional gallery, conference facilities, heritage displays and a Visitor Information Centre
 
The successful candidate will be a team player and an all-rounder who performs effectively in a diverse team. They will hold tertiary degree qualifications in Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Arts Management or Museum studies or similar qualification and demonstrated experience in exhibition development, curation and design and collection management.
 
High level communication and problem solving skills are also required.
 
Desirable requirements include experience in Local Government; financial management skills and experience working with volunteers.
 
Remuneration
This is a full time, permanent role, with remuneration in the range of $76,306.00 to $85,853.30 per annum (depending on skills and experience) for a 35 hour week worked in accordance with Council’s Flexible Working Hours policy, plus 9.5% superannuation. Some evening and weekend work will be required dependant on gallery events.
