Artist Residency Opportunity in Broome

Gallery Sobrane has established a new international arts residency in the remote West Australian town of Broome, and is calling for proposals to become the first artist in residence in a brand new gallery and exhibition space.
Soon to relocate to a stunning heritage building, the Gallery Sobrane Residency will offer artists a creative and inspiring space in a truly unique natural environment. Artist and gallery owner Sobrane, who has gained international renown for her signature street art installations, has developed the residency program to support and inspire artistic practice in her home town.
“Having been on the receiving end of a number of residencies myself, I’ve created this program to give others the same chance to develop new skills and a new body of work in a
very special environment,” she said.
Visual artists, filmmakers and writers can apply for a residency anywhere between 2 weeks up to 3 months. The residency includes studio space, accommodation and both internal and external exhibition space in a full time operating gallery with a full program of extension events.
Artists are also expected to engage with the local community through workshops, artist talks and outreach programs.
Artists interested in the proposal or wanting further information should download documents from or by email from
