Job Opportunity | NSW & ACT Performing Arts Centres Association, Coordinator25.09.2017
The NSW & ACT Performing Arts Centres Association Inc are looking for a Coordinator for a 12 month contract, part time at 0.165 FTE.
NAPACA is the peak representative body for Performing Arts Centres in NSW and ACT, supporting a vibrant network of members. NSW and ACT Performing Arts Centres are actively involved in the national touring network and support creation, production and presentation of performing arts activity in their communities. More than just theatre spaces, many NAPACA members also offer rehearsal, workshop, social, conference, exhibition and event facilities and are fundamental to the cultural life of the areas that they service.
NAPACA has recently been incorporated to replace the former organisation representing venues, INAPAC. The new organisation has articulated a need for strong advocacy for performing arts centres which play such a central role in the cultural life of communities across NSW and ACT. Existing members have found the sharing of knowledge, issues and solutions across the sector invaluable as they strive for best practice. New members are needed to develop a truly representative voice for performing arts centres in a landscape occupied by organisations such as Museums & Galleries NSW which has performed a strong advocacy role for its members for many years.
NAPACA is offering what will initially be a part-time contract to someone with a refined understanding of the performing arts sector in NSW, a strategic thinker with practical industry networking skills, a person with sound administrative, financial and event planning skills. The NAPACA Executive will actively work with the selected Coordinator to achieve the association’s aims with the limited initial contract budget. Initially a part time Coordinator is sought by NAPACA to help the Executive Committee build its membership base and undertake the groundwork to achieve a robust and resourced organisation.
Work with the NAPACA Committee to
- administer the governance of NAPACA including the Rules of Incorporation
- convene meetings of the membership
- collaborate with like-minded and associated organisations to support the promotion of the performing arts in NSW
- prepare a case and application for service organisation funding
