Create NSW Seeks Short-Form Producing Talent for Emerging Producer Placement Opportunities09.08.2017
Applications are now open for 2017 Create NSW Emerging Producer Placement which will reward two applicants with customised six-month paid internships in industry.
Create NSW is looking for emerging producers living in NSW from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds that have at least one credit as a producer on a short film or web series to
apply for the opportunity.
Customised to suit their skillsets and creative form, the emerging producers will hone their craft in top NSW production companies in addition to spending time working alongside the Create NSW
Sector Investment team headed up by Director of Sector Investment, Sophia Zachariou. There will also be the opportunity to attend key industry events as part of the internships.
Applications will be assessed by a panel of Create NSW staff, with short-listed applicants invited to interview before the recipients are announced. The placements will begin mid October 2017, with the dates to be mutually agreed by both parties.
Create NSW CEO Michael Brealey said that the Emerging Producer Placement has proved to be a great starting point for producing talent, pointing out past recipients including Jessica Giacco, Pete Ireland and Maria Tran.
“We have run the Emerging Producer Placement in various forms since 2009 and have been hugely excited about the talent that surfaces through the opportunity. Last year’s recipient Jessica
Giacco is currently working on Bruce Beresford’s Ladies in Black, Pete Ireland is one of 11 filmmakers to receive Screen Australia’s Hot Shots Plus funding this year and Maria Tran continues to forge a very successful producing, acting and screen teaching career.
“No matter what the producer’s background, jumping into the deep end of industry and learning from some of the best in the business is a fantastic opportunity. Through producer placements we
can help screen practitioners hone their skills and deliver back into our ever-increasing pool of NSW filmmaking talent. I’m looking forward to seeing the applications and starting the new journeys later this year.”
Applications are now and close at midnight Friday 1 September 2017.
