Orange Regional Conservatorium | Australia’s finest string quartet is joined by guitar virtuoso Slava Grigoryan for their only Regional NSW performance24.05.2017
The Orange Regional Conservatorium will proudly host the Australian String Quartet with guest artist Slava Grigoryan this Friday 26th May. Presenting a full and exciting program in what will be their only regional NSW performance.
This is a rare opportunity to see some of the nation’s finest musicians come together to perform outside of a major city. The combination of guitar and string quartet is a unique blend of sounds not often heard, making this event all the more special.
“We have been fortunate enough to have hosted both the ASQ and Slava Grigoryan separately in the past, so we are especially excited to see them onstage, together in our auditorium,” said ORC Music Director Donna Riles, “Bringing new music to regional areas is one of the vital roles the Conservatorium provides for the community, and we feel especially honoured to be presenting such a high caliber program for the benefit our students, members and all music lovers.”
The Australian String Quartet is one of the nations most established and loved classical music ensembles. Performing nationally and internationally for over 30 years, the group continues to inspire and entertain audiences around the globe, a ‘must-see’ for any classical music fan.
Born in Kazakhstan before immigrating with his family as a child, Slava Grigoryan was touring professionally by age 18. Together with his brother Leonard as the Grigoryan Brothers, he has performed internationally, recorded prolifically and become synonymous with Australian classical guitar.
The performance will include a variety of works from traditional to modern, including Schubert’s String Quartet in G Major and Migration by American composer Ralph Towner.
