New Director for goulburn.art REGIONAL GALLERY

Goulburn Mulwaree Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Gina Mobayed as the Director of goulburn.art REGIONAL GALLERY. Gina’s appointment follows the recent departure of former Gallery Director Jane Cush after a very successful nine years in the role.

 

Sarah Ruberto, Business Manager Marketing, Events & Culture, welcomed Gina to the Art Gallery team. “After an outstanding nine years, I’d like to thank Jane Cush for her great contribution to building the profile of visual arts and the reputation of the Gallery far and wide. We now turn towards the future of the goulburn.art REGIONAL GALLERY, and I am thrilled to be welcoming Gina Mobayed to lead our team. Gina brings a wealth of diverse experience, as well as a fresh perspective, and I know the goulburn.art REGIONAL GALLERY has a great future ahead.”

 

Gina Mobayed is looking forward to directing the regional gallery. “The Gallery has a long history of supporting Australian artists through its program and collection. I’m looking forward to building on this history by creating a space where the local and artistic communities come together in a new form of exchange – realising the full potential of what is possible for a regional gallery.”
 

Gina has been working in the arts and cultural sector for over a decade, and has gained extensive experience gained through her work in the commercial gallery, institutional and not-for-profit sectors and, most recently for the Australian Government initiative Artbank. Gina has developed specialist skills in creative programming, exhibition development and project management as it relates to the visual arts. A passionate arts manager, Gina has delivered exhibitions and experimental projects nationally and internationally, working with some of Australia’s most significant artists.  As an Art Consultant at Artbank, Gina worked to connect the broader public with the work and concepts of Australian artists. She also contributed to the development of numerous projects for the organisation and sat on the editorial committee for Sturgeon Magazine.
 

Between 2015 and 2016 Gina was a co-director at Firstdraft, Australia’s longest running artist-led initiative, where she worked on strategic planning, funding and programming in support of emerging and experimental artists. Prior she worked at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney and Grantpirrie Gallery, Sydney. Gina has a significant breath of knowledge of the Australian visual arts sector and is passionate about developing opportunities for artists at all stages of their career.
