Call for Entries: 2017 NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize

Professional and emerging artists with a penchant for painting ‘en plein air’ will have the chance to win $20,000 with the NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize, which opens for entries on Monday 19 June 2017.
Artists are invited to enter up to two paintings done en plein air, of a New South Wales subject, with the work begun on or after May 2015. The coveted Prize, proudly sponsored by Telstra, includes a public exhibition of finalists’ works at Parliament House throughout October.

The NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize is one of the only landscape painting prizes in Australia to celebrate this unique and age-old art form, which requires the artist to paint entirely out of doors, in direct contact with nature and the elements.

Now in its 10th year, the Prize has gained a reputation for shining the spotlight on professional and emerging plein air painters, and is one of the most eagerly anticipated landscape painting prizes on the NSW arts calendar. It has been won by the likes of Robert Malherbe, Evan Salmon, Tom Carment, Guy Maestri, Noel McKenna, Euan Macleod and Rodney Pople and has furthered the careers of artists such as John Bokor and Isabel Gomez.

Entries will be accepted from Monday 19 June – Friday 21 July via electronic submission.
