Cementa17 | Regional Arts NSW Festival Wrap Up12.04.2017
Cementa Contemporary Arts Festival took place from 6-9 April this year, spanning four day and nights with performances, sound, cabaret, interactive and electronic arts, video, photography, installation and ceramics.
Over 60 artists participated in the festival, including previously interviewed artist Miriam Williamson with Bag Hut and Orana Arts Administration Officer, Paris Norton.
Regional Arts NSW Manager of Projects and Grant Programs, Pru Tan, attended the festival from 8-9 April, viewing artworks across the three main precincts in Kandos and out of town venues.
Prudence described the festival and its diverse mix of contemporary artists;
“Cementa17 had an incredible breadth of artists responding to Kandos’ unique regional context. The town was abuzz with contemporary art, and I particularly enjoyed the work by Sarah Waterson, focusing on the endangered Paphiopedilum Rothschildianum orchid, in Kandos Scout Hall. Other highlights were Thom Roberts’ performance supported by an Accessible Arts Delineate grant, and Andrew Christie’s figurines.”
The next Cementa Festival will take place in 2019.
