Broken Hill | Public Art Residency14.03.2017
Broken Hill City Council (Council), in partnership with Arts NSW, invites interest from suitably experienced local, national and/or international artists to interpret, disrupt, illuminate and activate the City as a ‘Living Museum’ and place with ‘Perfect Light’. This is a vibrant project defined by bold public art that fires the imagination and amplifies a strong sense of identity.
Artists are invited to propose public artworks that reflect Broken Hill, its people and rich heritage. With this project Council seeks to amplify Broken Hill’s National Heritage Listing, enliven the Broken Hill Living Museum + Perfect Light (BH LM+PL) project and deliver transformational change.
Artworks can be ephemeral or permanent and take many forms: performing, literary, visual, installations linked to specific sites, stand-alone pieces, works that integrate into a building or built space, works that reinterpret or invent, or works applied to an exterior surface. Artists are encouraged to explore alternatives.
As part of the residency, Artists should engage with community through workshops, talks, collaboration or planned events.
Three residencies are up for grabs and quotation offer forms are available on request by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Council will accept quotations from interested artists until 3pm, 26 April, 2017.
