Australian Centre for Arts and Health | Creative Ageing Forum & the Big Chat Speakers Announced as Part of the Creative Ageing Festival

Two forums in Coffs Coast and Port Maquarie have been announced as a part of the Creative Ageing Festival (01-14 March 2017). The forums, presented by the Australian Centre for Arts and Health, in association with local councils and Arts Mid North Coast, will examine creative ageing, and ways the arts can contribute to ageing well.

Speakers range from across local government, health, ageing and creative sectors. People working in the arts and creative industries, education, healthcare, ageing and aged care and service providers are encouraged to attend, as well as older people who enjoy life. Registration is essential.

 

COFFS COAST CREATIVE AGEING FORUM

Jetty Memorial Theatre, 337 Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour
Tuesday 7 March 2017,  9.30am to 12:45pm 

What is Creative Ageing? Hear from expert speakers across local government, community services, health and aged care about the role that the arts can play in ageing well. Learn about innovative Creative Ageing programs and festivals in Australia and overseas.  Take part in a Q&A session to examine creative ageing opportunities that the Coffs Coast can grow and foster. Morning tea provided.

The trailer of the award winning Winter at Westbeth, recently previewed at the Sydney and Melbourne Film Festivals, will be screened.

THE BIG CHAT ABOUT CREATIVE AGEING

Glasshouse Arts Centre, Clarence Street, Port Macquarie
Thursday 9 March 2017,  9:30am to 3:30pm 

What is Creative Ageing? What kind of ‘old’ do you want to be? What kind of world do you want to grow “old” in? Explore the intriguing answers to these questions by joining us for The Big Chat about Creative Ageing. Hear expert speakers including artists working in health and aged care, gallery and museum curators, and learn about arts programs, utilising music, dance, theatre and creative writing that support older people to stay fit and well or support people living with chronic conditions such as dementia and Parkinsons.

Exclusive screening of the award winning Winter at Westbeth, recently previewed at the Sydney and Melbourne Film Festivals. An inspirational story about community, ageing and the need to keep creating.
