Indigenous Opportunity | Bundjalung Colouring Book Project in the Northern Rivers24.08.2016
Byron Shire Council has received funding to run an Indigenous Language Arts Project. As part of this project Byron Shire Council will be making a colouring book to help Jarjums learn Bundjalung language.
Artworks will be submitted to a selection panel made up of local Aboriginal elders, community leaders and artists.
Artists will be paid one fee of $200 to use each artwork, for the life of the colouring in book project. Artists can submit more than one artwork.
Copyright of all artworks submitted will remain with the artists.
Byron Shire Council will not profit from the colouring book.
If the colouring books are sold all the monies will go to an Aboriginal Cultural Fund to be auspiced by the Mullumbimby Neighbourhood Centre and administered by a collective of the participating artists to go back to the local Aboriginal community for cultural projects.
The artworks submitted will not be used by Council or any other participating organisation for any other purpose other than the Bundjalung Colouring in Project without additional written permission from the artist.
All artists will be acknowledged for their artwork.
Responsibility for original artworks cannot be accepted by Byron Bay Council.
