Farewell to Ben and Palmarita

It appears the seven year itch has struck RANSW.

Last week we farewelled our Funding Manager, Ben Sibson, and our Finance Manager, Palmarita D’Orazio finishes work with us on 3 September.

Ben had worked for seven years and one month with the organisation contributing significantly during his time, especially in the grants area of his role. He streamlined the grants process and gave continued and very valuable telephone support to potential applicants.

Ben’s funding and project development workshops held throughout the state were always welcomed. He is moving to the Australian Childrens’ Music Foundation and no doubt will continue to be in touch with the regional arts people about music projects. We will all miss his reasonable and sage advice.

Fiona Hunt takes up the position of Funding Manager today. Fiona has a business background and grants experience. Her career has spanned arts and tourism. We are sure Fiona will get up to speed in a very short period of time.

Our wonderful Finance Manager, Palmarita D’Orazio is retiring to care for her elderly mother. Palmarita has been with us for seven years and four months, and again her contribution to RANSW and the network has been incredibly valuable.

Palmarita will be missed not only for her financial expertise, but also for her in depth knowledge of food and Italian cuisine that she happily shared with the office and the regional network.

Our New Finance Manager, Brian Wilson, starts this Thursday,  27 August. Brian has a broad and extensive background in arts administration and financial management at senior levels, so we expect a seamless transition.

It has been wonderful for this small organisation to have enjoyed such a long commitment from a pair of highly skilled and professional staff members as Ben and Palmarita. We wish them well in the next stage of their respective journeys.

A big welcome to Fiona and Brian. There will be more detail about our new colleagues on our website soon.
