Regional Arts Fund applications due 14 August

Applications for the 2016 funding round for the Regional Arts Fund (RAF) close on August 14.

The funding is for projects that will take place between 1 January  and 31 December next year and provides grants supporting arts and cultural activities in regional NSW that are sustainable, have long term cultural, economic and social benefits, develop partnerships and cultural networks, and provide skills development opportunities.

Grants of more than $20,000 per year are available but must be discussed with Regional Arts NSW prior to applying. For the 2016 funding round, no multi-year funding will be available.

One of the projects funded for the 2015 year is the Sprung!! Ensemble project, Encounters: Looking In, Looking Out in the Northern Rivers region. Through the project the integrated dance theatre company is exploring the effects of chance encounters on perceptions of identity, belonging, ability and disability.

To date, two weeks of development workshops have been held and there are plans to explore the four modules through workshops with schools and other community groups.

Sprung Integrated Dance Theatre began in 2012 in Tintenbar on the far north coast to honour the creative spirit through dance, theatre, integration and collaboration.
