Your Easter Holiday Regional Arts Guide

Easter and the NSW school holidays are a great time to get out into the regions and experience all they have to offer in festivals, arts, culture, markets and more. Get out and about and explore beyond the metro margins!

 2 – 6 April National Folk Festival Canberra

Djaadjawan Dancers

The work of South East Arts will feature at the festival with an installation of Price’s Cafe exhibition. As part of a celebration of Australia’s first peoples, the Narooma based Aboriginal women’s dance group, Djaadjawan Dancers, (pictured above) will give four performances. The ANZACS will be honoured, there will be street and circus performers and a kidzfest.

ArtOut Deniliquin 2014


South West Arts ArtOut + Vintage ArtOut, Deniliquin 

Deniliquin is the place to be for arts this Easter with the second ArtOut and inaugural Vintage ArtOut. A great range with 27 ArtOut and seven VintageOut stalls, and the annual Rotary and Edward River Art Society Easter Art Exhibition in Deniliquin High’s Multi Purpose Centre.

La Festa, Memorial Park, Griffith

The festival for families and friends and great activities and amusements for kids, the Steggles La Festa Griffith, features gourmet food stalls and market stalls; taste boutique wine from some of the region’s best producers and enjoy XXXX Gold – the Official Beer of La Festa 2015; traditional Italian cooking demonstrations in The Gourmet Cucina sponsored by Harvey Norman, Griffith and Belling. Children’s entertainment in the Steggles Family Picnic Area.

3 – 6 April Jindabyne Lake Light Sculpture Festival

As night falls the magic begins and the illuminated sculptures play on the light of the Easter full moon. The effect is dramatic, transforming the already interesting sculptures and revealing hidden elements. Sunday evening enjoy drinks with the artists and the announcement of the winners.


4-5 April  Shear Outback – Festival of the Blades, Hay

A highlight of this annual festival is the celebration of five new inductees into the Australian Shearer’s Hall of Fame. The weekend features tours of the historic Murray Downs Shed, working dog trials and a writers’ workshop.


11 April illuminARTe – Picton 

IlluminARTe Logo

This inaugural festival will see artworks projected onto landmark buildings and a lantern parade sure to enthral and captivate onlookers. (IlluminARTe is supported by Southern Tablelands Arts and a Country Arts Support Project Grant.)
