Regional Artists Invited to ‘Pitch In’31.03.2014
Artists from across the Central West are invited to apply to pitch their projects and ideas in an innovative program aimed at involving artists with the Kandos-based contemporary art festival, Cementa, as it develops into the future.
The inaugural festival was held in early 2013 and involved more than 70 artists from metropolitan and regional areas.
This year, Cementa Inc., in partnership with Kandos Projects, is inviting regional artists to submit ideas and proposals for presentation in ‘Pitching In’, as part of the 2014 public program, leading up to the 2015 festival.
Co-director of Cementa, Alex Wisser says ’Pitching In’ will involve a number of artists from both urban and regional contexts in discussion around themes and ideas relevant to contemporary art practice.”
“This process is about artists presenting work, proposed or in process, for peer review and discussion in a relaxed, social setting at Kandos Projects.
“These sessions will be designed to keep things conversational but allow presenting artists access to the reflections of visiting artists and the Cementa directors with a view toward developing their work and practice.”
Wisser explains that while the directors are interested in considering any artist with a contemporary practice, regionally-based artists are especially encouraged to attend the Pitching In sessions.
‘Pitching In’ is just one of the public programs which will include artist talks, presentations, film nights, performances and exhibitions that will occur across the year. “Most events will take place at Kandos Projects in the main street of Kandos, a small community south east of Mudgee NSW.”
Work presented through the Pitching In process will be considered for exhibition at Kandos Projects across 2014 and artists engaged in developing work will be considered for future Cementa Festivals.
The first Pitching in event will take place at Kandos Projects at 18 Angus Avenue, Kandos on Feb 15, 3:00pm. Artists wishing to apply can send an email to
