PopUP in the Clarence Valley

Northern Rivers Creative has gone on the road for a creative industries roadshow over two years that will be stopping off at each of the seven local government areas that make up the Northern Rivers region.

Arts Northern Rivers have partnered up with Clarence Valley Council for the first stop on their creative cavalcade. For a week from the 15 April Northern Rivers Creatives’ will be occupying the old bank building in Maclean. The space will be decked out with wares of 12 Clarence-based artists, designers, photographers, textile designers and performers.

There will also be mini-workshops for the creatively inclined. From Instagram for Creative Small Business, run by Creator/Maker Ellie Beck from Deadwood Creative to Artists in Charge: an Introduction to the Business of Making Art presented by art consultant Susanna Carman from Song Pathways, the workshops are sure to provoke, stimulate and kick-start creative careers.

Northern Rivers Creative was launched in 2013 as a user-generated online portfolio site for creative industry practitioners living and working in the Northern Rivers region. The site acts as a platform for local practitioners to connect with one another and as a creative marketplace for virtual visitors to explore what the talent residing in the Northern Rivers.

Following two successful Northern Rivers Creative popUps last year, including one at The Rocks in Sydney, opposite the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), aimed at taking the creatives outside of the Northern Rivers, this year Arts Northern Rivers decided it was Northern Rivers Creatives’ got to show off what is artistically unique about the seven council areas of the Northern Rivers made up of Ballina and Byron Shire, Clarence Valley, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley and the Tweed Shire.
