Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Is. Art Award

CALL FOR ENTRIES OPEN

Applications are now open for the 31st Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award, the premier national event on the Australian Indigenous Arts Calendar.

Prizes
Major Prize will be the Telstra Art Award of $50 000, plus prizes of $5 000 are also awarded in each of the following five
categories:

• the Telstra Youth Award
• the Telstra General Painting Award
• the Telstra Bark Painting Award
• the Telstra Work on Paper Award
• the Wandjuk Marika Memorial 3D Award (sponsored by Telstra)

The Telstra Award of $50 000 and the five category prizes are non-acquisitive.

The closing date for entries is Friday, 21 March 2014, please note incomplete entries will not be accepted.

This hand-coloured vinyl-cut print celebrates the epic journey of the brothers Malo, Sagai, Kulka and Siu to settle the central and eastern islands of the Torres Strait. Sagai, a gifted and astute warrior, settled Yam Island and is represented by the hammerhead shark.  His wife, Maiu, is represented by the crocodile.NATSSIAA30
