Wired Lab Awarded For 'Southern Encounter'17.09.2013
Celebrating the outstanding achievements of Australian musicians, the Art Music Awards, awarded The Wired Lab’s 2012 Southern Encounter project with two awards in the categories:
- Award for Excellence in Experimental Music
- Award for Excellence in a Regional Area
Curated by Sarah Last, founding member of The Wired Lab, Southern Encounter was a highly experimental arts of sound project commissioned for the artistic program of Regional Arts Australia’s 2012 National Regional Arts Conference and Festival, ‘Kumuwuki / Big Wave’, held in Goolwa, South Australia October 18-21st 2012.
The Wired Lab say that the double award win on this national platform “is particularly delightful as it demonstrates that regionally produced projects can be a platform for rigorous contemporary art practice whilst also generating meaningful and enduring community cultural development outcomes.” Sarah Last has long maintained that the two can coexist.
