Australian Arts in Asia Awards

Nominations for the Australian Arts in Asia Awards close at 5pm this Sunday. The awards are open to small to medium arts organisations, and regional artists are encouraged to apply.

Arts Minister Tony Burke has announced these new awards to celebrate the significant role Australian artists and arts organisations play in our relationship with Asian countries.

“The engagement in Asia isn’t simply an exposition of Australian creativity. The work of our artists is being affected by Asia just as artists who have moved here from parts of Asia are seeing their art affected by Australia,” Mr Burke says.

“This artistic influence is now at the cutting edge of much of Australian creativity.”

The Australian Arts in Asia Awards will recognise, celebrate and promote the significant number of Australian artists engaging in Asia, contributing to stronger, deeper and broader cultural links with Asian nations.

Eligible artists, arts organisations and collecting institutions can nominate themselves for the awards, or be nominated by a third party.

Awards are open to nominations in 14 categories:
