February RADO Meeting28.02.2013
Gathered from every corner of the state, our 14 RADOs (Regional Arts Development Officers) came together in Walsh Bay for our first quarterly meeting of the year over three days in February. The meeting was also attended by the Aboriginal Arts Network because the focus of this meeting was specifically on the activity being undertaken in each region in the area of Aboriginal arts.
This was the first time the Aboriginal Arts Officers had come together since meeting in Canberra last May 2012. Director of RANSW, Peter White, who is also the Indigenous Collections Officer at National Film and Sound Archive of Australia shared his affirming observations of the increased activity and high degree of development in Aboriginal arts achieved across NSW in the last two years. His suggestion for future focus was to strategically increase the visibility of this activity.
The meeting allowed the network to share news, challenges and achievements from each of their regions face to face, as well as plan for future projects.
