Moree Dhiiyaan centre secures $200k

The NSW Government has provided $200,000 in funding for the Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre in Moree. The centre holds a collection of more than 100,000 genealogies, 15,000 photographs, language records and other important documents relating to local Kamilaroi families. The funding will be administered by the State Library of NSW and is being provided by Arts NSW’s 2012 arts funding program as part of the $1 million 2012 Indigenous strategic projects initiative. Dhiiyaan will appoint a director as a result of the funding. The State Library of NSW will assist Dhiiyaan in its transition to an independent entity and it’s development as a cultural centre for the Kamilaroi nation.
