Secret Places closes city and country student gap01.10.2012
Griffith and Wade High School students in South West NSW have remotely collaborated with Fairfield High School students in Western Sydney for Secret Places: The Connections project. Since October 2011, sixty students have embarked in a form of theatrical pen-palling bridging geographical, cultural and social divides. The performers used Skype to connect and plan their production, wrote letters, postcards, sent photos and exchanged objects and video messages, before meeting face-to-face in Sydney in May 2012. Two simultaneous productions were shown at the Griffith Regional Theatre and Casula Powerhouse in late June. A creative partnership between Outback Theatre for Young People and Powerhouse Youth Theatre, the Secret Places story will air on ABC Open, ABC News 24 on Tuesday September 25 at 9.55am and later at 8.55pm.
