Art in the Garage launch new studios01.09.2012
Part of Tulgeen Disability Services located in South East Arts, Art in the Garage provides supported art making for 29 artists with disability. The project focuses on encouraging the development of arts skills and nurturing individual creativity through sensitive mentorship. It is regarded as unique in regional Australia with artists being invited to exhibit their work in many other regions of NSW, ACT and Queensland. For twelve years the artists have used a small converted domestic garage as a studio in Bega and will today, August 31, launch the additional three art making spaces adjoining the original garage. These new studios will provide specialised facilities for printmaking, ceramics and 3D works. With assistance from the Regional Arts Fund, a 3D mural project has just been completed and is an integral part of making the new studios a unique and inspirational arts environment. The studios will be available for access by individual artists and community arts groups and it is envisaged that this new creative facility will promote new collaborations and foster the celebration of difference.
