Orana RADO advises artists on selling01.07.2012
Orana Arts Regional Arts Development Officer, Alicia Leggett, recently spoke to visual arts blog Where is the Art on how emerging artists can sell their art in the commercial market. Leggett, who previously sold art in the US through commercial galleries, art events and festivals plus hospitals and retail stores, said artists should have records of all the work they have created plus a collectors database in order to succeed commercially. “A picture of every piece created, dates, titles and any information on the sales of the work. This is a must, even if the artist is representing himself or is signed to a gallery,” Leggett said. Check out the full Q&A here.
