RABs Gain Funding Boost

This May NSWs 14 Regional Arts Boards each secured a $7,000 grant to develop local artistic and culture programs. The grants were part of a $98,000 funding boost from the Minister for the Arts George Souris MP. The support will assist each of the state’s 14 Regional Arts Development Officers to develop a one-off project or extend on an existing project in 2012. The support aims to assist in professional and artistic development and encourage audience development opportunities for regional communities. Murray Arts will put the funding towards its Bright Sparks Creative Industries Symposium in August. Arts OutWest will direct the money into its second regional Aboriginal arts showcase Marramarra Bulla, held in Parkes in November. Other RADOs are now consulting with their communities. Lindy Hume, Chair of Regional Arts NSW, said: “There are many exciting and imaginative projects in development across regional NSW, as our RABs and the many excellent artists living in regional areas respond to a growing cultural confidence in regional communities who crave high-quality arts experiences.”
