Aboriginal Arts Development Officer Network travels to Canberra

The Regional Arts NSW network of Regional Aboriginal Arts Development Officers (AADOs) met in Canberra in early May for a professional development trip to the second National Indigenous Art Triennial currently exhibited at the National Gallery of Australia (NGA). unDISCLOSED features the work of twenty Indigenous artists from across the country. The network of AADOs were present at the opening of the exhibition and for artist and curator talks providing them with valuable insights into the creative processes and commercial realities of life as an Indigenous artist. This was interspersed with visits to the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies and the National Museum of Australia together with mentorship from Peter White, a Director of Regional Arts NSW and Director of the Wesfarmers Arts Indigenous Fellowship at the NGA. The successful trip combined professional development and networking opportunities culminating in a commitment from the AADOs to work together to substantially enhance arts opportunities for Indigenous people in Regional NSW.
